Barb has a Masters in Health Sciences with a specialty in Health Promotion. During her 20+ years with Health Nexus, she’s held several different positions, primarily in management, and most recently was Program Director. Meghan is the Bilingual Information Specialist with the Best Start Resource Centre. She oversees the Maternal Newborn and Child Health Promotion Network and the Healthy Babies Healthy Children Network, writes the bi-weekly bulletin, conducts research, shares information, supports the team on special projects, and provides information, referrals, and brief consultations to clients. Meghan completed her Honours Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Masters of Social Work. She has conducted research and managed information in the areas of family support, child welfare, homelessness, psychology, child development, social work, health promotion, learning disabilities, and community economic and social development.

Sylvie Boulet is a bilingual Health Promotion Consultant. Sylvie has a Master in Health Sciences - Community Nutrition, two bachelor degrees in food science and social work and a back ground in adult education. Sylvie started her career 22 years ago first as a program coordinator, social worker, adult educator, researcher and facilitator and then in the nutrition field as a dietitian and professor of nutrition at 2 post secondary organizations. Her experience encompasses the fields of non-profit organizations as well as clinical institutions and a community health centres. Wendy has worked extensively on teen pregnancy, reproductive health risks in the workplace, health before pregnancy and the effects of tobacco smoke and alcohol during pregnancy. She assists communities across the province by providing presentations, consultations and designing new provincial resources. Wendy has presented at many conferences including Missouri Healthy Start, Guelph Conference on Human Sexuality, the Ontario Public Health Association Conference, Ontario Prevention Clearinghouse Congress, Maternal Newborn Network and has provided on-site consultations for over 30 Ontario Health Units.

Louise Choquette is a Bilingual Health Promotion Consultant. Her formal education is in Communications and Educational Technology. Over the past few years, she has been involved in a variety of health promotion initiatives in public health and for not-for-profit organizations in the areas of heart health, physical activity, tobacco use prevention and substance abuse prevention. Her portfolio with the Best Start Resource Centre has included services to francophones, prenatal education, cultural diversity issues, tobacco, attachment and physical activity.

Hiltrud has Ext.ensive experience in the maternal newborn field as a nurse, midwife as well as lactation consultant. She last worked as coordinator of the Breastfeeding and Newborn Assessment clinic at St Joseph's Healthcare, Hamilton. During that time Hiltrud pulled together a multidisciplinary team that implemented the Baby-Friendly Initiative. St Joseph's Healthcare became Ontario's first Baby-Friendly Hospital in March 2003. Her passions include breastfeeding and the adjustment of mothers and families after the birth of their baby and the impact of mother's physical, social and mental issues on infants.

Subha Sankaran is a Health Promotion Consultant at Health Nexus where she has been working in a few different roles and program areas since 2004. Her areas of interest include equity and inclusion, as well as community and organizational development. Through her work she helps build capacity for health promotion through the lens of equity and inclusion. Recent projects include adaptation and translation of resources for newcomers related to maternal, newborn and infant health, Primer to Action - taking action on the social determinants of health, and working on stroke prevention for South Asian communities through a model of community engagement. Her current work includes a province wide project funded through the Healthy Communities Fund. Subha has previously worked in the field of HIV/AIDS in Canada, and prior to moving here, taught Sociology at the university level in India.

Ronald Dieleman is a bilingual administrative assistant. His experience is greatly diversified. He has worked in the areas of education, administration and client services with different organizations and corporations; and was involved in community based groups in Haiti. He also works as a volunteer for French non-profit organizations: L'Association des communautés francophones de l'Ontario de Toronto (ACFO-Toronto) and FrancoQueer as a board member. Melanie Ferris (Horse Clan) is our Aboriginal Health Promotion Consultant. An Anishnawbe woman originally from the Long Plain First Nation in Manitoba, Melanie’s passion is in creating products that use plain language and clear design so that Aboriginal people have useful and enjoyable products to use in building healthier communities. Melanie is a published author and especially enjoys gathering information from Elders for her work. Through Health Nexus, Melanie is working closely with Aboriginal people in Ontario to create a toolkit and training for service providers to help them include culture in their approaches to preventing obesity in First Nations, Inuit, and Métis children.

Roshni Juttun integrated the Best Start team since beginning of January 2009 as Bilingual Administrative Assistant and will be providing full support in both English and French to the team, reporting directly to the Health Promotion Manager.  Backed with 6 years experience in Administrative and Human Resources acquired through numerous and reputable French companies in Mauritius, she recently moved to Canada with her family.

Robyn joins the Health Promotion Hub team as a Health Promotion Information Specialist. She will be part of the OHPE Bulletin team and will also be exploring ways to develop, store, retrieve, use and share health promotion information to maximize its usefulness and impact. Kousar Khan is a webmaster and has been with Health Nexus since December, 2008. Kousar is responsible for the designing, development and administration of Health Nexus’s various websites, in English and French. She brings to us a wide range of knowledge and skills and has over 7 years of experience in this field.

Hélène Roussel has many years of experience within community based agencies. Her experience is greatly diversified. She has worked in the areas of adult education training, volunteer management, programme management, administration, public relations, events coordination, fundraising, and community health development specifically in the natural health field. Hélène has a great interest in capacity building and the ethno-cultural diversity of the franco-ontarian agencies.

Suzanne Schwenger has worked in health promotion for 15 years. She speaks French and holds Masters Degrees in Social Work and Education. Her passions include community engagement, public policy development and electronic dialogue. Suzanne is co-author of the resource, Prescribing Prevention: Health Promotion and Stroke Prevention. Suzanne has been a member of Prevent Stroke team since November 2002.

Alison Stirling is currently the Health Promotion Knowledge Management Developer. Between 2005 and 2007, she was on assignment as the Health Promotion Information Specialist to the Health Promotion Affiliate, Canadian Health Network (CHN) at Health Nexus. Alison provides specific support and expertise in the fields of health promotion and information management. She has both a Master's degree in Health Promotion (MHSc) and a Master's degree in Information Studies (MISt) from University of Toronto. She brings over 20 years experience in building health promotion capacity at both the local and provincial levels; and in research, writing and advocating for health promotion. Alison is an enthusiastic proponent of the uses of the Internet for health promotion, is the founder of the 10 year old Click4HP international health promotion listserv and the Ontario Health Promotion Email (OHPE) Bulletin, and is currently working on HP Web 2.0 tools for social networking on the Internet (blogs, wikis, tagging and more).
