The Learning Lab in Ottawa on November 29, 2010 brought together over 50 community leaders from a range of organizations in Ottawa – to enhance their understanding of health inequities among racialized communities, to share their insights, successes and challenges, and to identify opportunities for action. It was attended by people from community health centres, public health, community organizations, government and others.
The morning began with presentations from a range of speakers. This was followed by personal stories that were incredibly moving and thought provoking. The day ended with group discussions among participants, hearing about current initiatives taking place in Ottawa and opportunities to go forward.
The Ottawa event was planned by a local planning committee led by the South East Ottawa Community Health Centre over a five month long planning process.
