Catch the buzz - check out some participant feedback from the Moving Upstream Together conference.

Moving Upstream Together created a buzz, here's a sampling of the feedback we are hearing from participants

On the relevance of the conference…

"Should be more relevant but this is more because "my work" needs to evolve not because of any shortcoming of the conference."

"It was an energy boost to remind us that the little steps are critical towards a greater end."

"It raised more questions than it answered which is not a bad thing."

What was the most valuable component of the conference?…

"I found myself jotting notes throughout the day of letters I want to write, politicians I want to speak to, and people I met at the conference whom I'd like to contact for more information."

"Identifying the social gaps that subsequently directly effect health. The facts were great. They indicate a need for change."

"Meeting like-minded professionals all moving upstream together."

Overall feedback on the conference…

"Great organization - I loved the carry through of the theme. I also really appreciated that the workshop were workshops (and not just a series of talking heads) great interaction and networking. Thank you for a fabulous conference."

"I loved the use of various forms of communication - artist's mural, signing the canoe, posters to document the history of OPC, and the logo and the "upstream" theme."

"Great conference and amazing value for the $$$. I really liked the "leaders of tomorrow" session. It was very "real"."

Tangible suggestions for next steps…

"Have a follow up conference where a working paper is developed as a result of the discussions at the workshop - use the WHO congress process as outlined by Suzanne Jackson."

"Would like to see the conference enlarged to include more representation from "illness" care providers; get a real dialogue going on the role of primary health care in particular."

"We need to move to action - seems to me that I have been attending events such as this for about 20 years and we keep talking about the same issues. It is time for someone, how about OPC, to provide the leadership and take the risk, to move these agendas forward and to translate to policy change."
