An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
Popular wisdom of old that still holds true!

When thinking of health care most of us tend to focus on the treatment of disease rather than its prevention. Advancements in medical technology fascinate us all and regularly make the evening news. Popular TV series feed us regularly with images of emergency wards and acute care facilities where people lie helpless hooked to a myriad of beeping machines. Primary health care is not the stuff of sensational TV drama. But, it continues to be very important and to affect the lives of countless individuals and communities throughout Ontario.

The stories presented in this web site are authentic stories of real people who benefited by their involvement at their local Community Health Centre (CHC). The common theme in all the stories is that multi-disciplinary, community based primary health care delivery, like that provided by CHCs in Ontario, makes a difference in the lives of individuals and communities.
